I interviewed with the frontend group at Ring, with the group’s HM. We didn’t use video, and his voice sounded indifferent. He asked about three LPs - an example of something I persisted in but later found I was wrong, a conflict with a team member, and dealing with a complicated problem. After answering the last one, he kept asking why it became complicated. The second part involved implementing a frontend component, similar to an image carousel, using vanilla JS, HTML, and CSS. I explained while coding, but he remained muted throughout. When I asked about specific requirements, he would counter with “What do you think is most reasonable?” After I responded, he stayed silent, which was quite frustrating.
Overall, the experience wasn’t great, and even if I passed, I wouldn’t want to join this group as I would likely face intense questioning. This was my first time interviewing with Amazon, and it was certainly an eye-opener.
