Front-End Data Bricks Experience

About a month ago, I heard that the bar was set high, so I tried it casually.

Phone Interview:
OO/API design: K/V store and a bunch of follow-ups, can’t remember the details from three months ago.

Onsite:

  1. WAL + Snapshot, same as the interview question, 10 minutes for behavioral questions, 10 minutes explaining WAL, and 30 minutes discussing follow-ups.
  2. Max Subarray with unconsecutive elements, e.g., [1,2,3] → 1 + 3 = 4. This question was too easy, so I honestly told the interviewer the solution and then was given a different question on Morris traversal. Didn’t debug the bug completely.
  3. Assembly division implementation, same as the interview question, discussed follow-ups but didn’t write the code.
  4. Discussed behavioral questions with the EM, talked about some project management.

The experience was very good. Everyone seemed intelligent and humble. Not passing was indeed my own fault. However, their interview process is quite unique, it felt like gaining experience.
