Front-end interview experiences at Google are scarce. Here is a fresh interview experience and timeline from April. When I was a new grad, I applied to Google and got rejected after the onsite interview. Two years into my job, a recruiter contacted me again, and I decided to give it another try. This time, I applied for a front-end position. The phone interview and preparation details are in my post. Here, I will talk about the onsite interview.
For Google’s front-end onsite interviews, you can choose between two modes: focusing solely on algorithms or two front-end questions and the rest on algorithms. The recruiter mentioned there would be an interview round to assess if I fit the “Googley” culture, but I didn’t seem to encounter that.
Regarding the timeline, Google was surprisingly fast this time. Within two to three days of the phone interview, I was informed about the onsite interview. Due to work commitments, I scheduled it for three weeks later. A week after the onsite interview, I was notified that I passed the hiring committee review. On the same day, the recruiter sent me information about four team matches. Over the next two days, I talked to the four teams, and within the following day, I received a verbal offer followed by the official offer.
