Hiring Manager Interview at Autodesk

Title:
Autodesk - Sr. Software Developer - Hiring Manager Interview

Description:
Level: Senior
Interview Length: 1 hour

Questions Asked:

The interview was a hiring manager round. It was mostly behavioral, with one verbal system design discussion.

Behavioral questions included:

  • Tell me about a time when you received feedback and it changed how you work.
  • Tell me about a time when you had to work with a difficult teammate.
  • Tell me about a feature or project you implemented that you are proud of.

There was also a system design question, but it was more high-level and verbal. I didn’t have to draw diagrams or go very deep technically.

The prompt was about designing a software update flow for millions of devices. The discussion covered how to roll out updates by region, how devices receive update files, what happens if a device goes offline during the update, and how caching/CDN/S3-style storage could be used for large update files.

Overall, the round felt focused on communication, ownership, collaboration, and whether I could reason through a distributed update system at a practical level.
