OP was arranged for a Staff FE position by LinkedIn HR in early March, with a phone interview scheduled five weeks prior.
The interview felt quite strange, here are the details:
At the beginning of the phone interview, the interviewer did not show up for a while. After about 5 minutes, OP called HR to report the interviewer’s lateness. After 3 minutes, the interviewer finally joined, exchanged some brief greetings, and then a 25-minute long BQ session followed. This was followed by a 20-minute discussion on the projects listed on the resume, and finally, a quick completion of the classic interview questions foo biz bar and fibonacci memoization (answered quickly). A few questions were asked to the interviewer before it ended.
There was no communication for two weeks after that. By the third week, when OP emailed HR, the response received was that the interviewer had not provided feedback yet and needed to follow up. Then, there was no response for another two weeks. Today, OP was informed that the phone interview did not go well and there is a freeze for a year.
OP plans to appeal their experience to HR. Does anyone here have similar experiences and advice to share? The whole process felt quite amusing.
